I found this shop as it was recommended by a friend as I'm sick of paying top prices for lousy and tasteless fruit and veg at my local supermarket. She said it was good quality and a much bigger selection than Tesco, so I thought I'd give it a go. Outside looks like an old fashioned greengrocers shop (which I quite like, to be honest). But inside they have an amazing display of fresh local produce with all manner of traditional and exotic fruits and veggies at reasonable prices. There is also a tiny deli counter tucked away at the back with lovely treats such as thick cut roast meats, dozens of varieties of salad stuff and so many unusual and old favorite cheeses. When I was there I picked up a big punnet of smashing strawberries for just 89p which i used to top my home made rice pudding. The place was really busy and bustling with lots of helpful and knowledgeable staff around who helped me with choosing the right type of potato for roasting. I thought this shop was new, as I hadn't heard of it before and it turns out its been around for years. I for one wont be giving my hard earned cash to Tesco anymore. Apart from being much cheaper, the customer service and the taste alone will keep me coming back to Caves. Well done to a great local shop!
